Introduction to the Partner

FUNDES is a private, non-profit, international organization created in 1984 by the Swiss businessman Stephan Schmidheiny; our mission is based upon the promotion of the competitive development of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in Latin America (MSME). FUNDES’ mission is a means used to contribute to a goal of greater scope, the sustainable development of Latin America by:

• Conserving and strengthening the business structure of the countries in the region, to guarantee the main wealth generating source.
• To distribute generated wealth, the most effective means is the conservation and generation of occupations.
• Occupation and employment undisputedly contribute to reducing the poverty level.

FUNDES outstands in Latin America for the innovative methodologies it has developed on its interventions to support entrepreneurs to improve their skills and competitiveness through business development services (training and consulting).

FUNDES also contributes to the improvement of the business enabling environment through research studies and projects, while stimulating alliances with institutional partners and multi-lateral agencies.

FUNDES constitutes a network with presence in 10 countries in the region: Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Venezuela, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina; and staff of 200 professionals and more than 450 external consultants.
