The Club de Excelencia en Sostenibilidad and KPMG have launched this database containing up to now 7.681 reports of 3.012 organizations from all over the world.
KPMG and the Club de Excelencia en Sostenibilidad launched last 15th of November, the project “Sustainability Disclosure Database of Companies in Spain”, developed with Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and with the support of the Spanish Ministry of Labour and Immigration.
The Project, consisting in an enormous on-line database of the sustainability reports of companies in Spain, is the Spanish version of the international Sustainability Disclosure Database, announced the last week by GRI This platform allows enterprises, investors and all users to know and analyze the degree of transparency of the organizations, and also compare them by criteria such as sector, size or location, primarily in Spain and then in the rest of countries in Latin America.
During the presentation of the project, Juan Alfaro de la Torre, Secretary-General of the Club de Excelencia en Sostenibilidad, said:
Nowadays access to information and its management are key, that’s why this new tool comes to play an essential role. It gives the opportunity to society to get information about the sustainability and corporate responsibility issues from the most important companies and it also allows access to the best practices in the field
According to José Luis Blasco, Partner in charge of Climate Change and Sustainability Services at KPMG:
Sustainability reports have become valuable documents for management in Spanish and global companies. 88% out of one hundred biggest companies in Spain are already doing it. Thanks to this tool it will become easier to compare for users and for enterprises to improve their reports
Any type of sustainability or integrated report can be included in the database. This includes reports that have been prepared using the GRI Guidelines or referencing other organizations and types of sustainability guidance such as ISO26000, the Carbon Disclosure Project, the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, the United Nations Global Compact and the IFC Performance Standards. Reports registered on the database should feature disclosures around multiple issues, including economic, environmental, social and governance information.
