The Seventh annual Responsible Business Forum Serbia’s CSR Forum was held on Belgrade on December 8. CSR Forum is an annual conference on CSR, organized by the Responsible Business Serbia and Smart Kolektiv. The Conference focuses on presenting current trends in CSR and aims to stimulate cross-sector cooperation in order to stimulate sustainable development.
This year CSR Forum has gathered representatives from the state institutions, companies, and international guests who presented and discussed state of CSR in Serbia and Europe.
Natalie Campbell, their guest from UK talked about the influence that mission-led business has on society, presenting conclusions from the UK Government’s expert advisory panel designated to review of influence of mission-led businesses. From General Electric (GE) Hungary President, Joerg Bauer, conference participants had a chance to learn more about GE’s engagement with local communities and their new approach to reaching more members of the local community and making a positive impact on society. Christel Nelius, Program Manager, UJP – Germany’s national network of engaged businesses and local non-profit intermediary organizations, talked about CSR for SMEs in Germany.
An example of Serbian companies CSR activities was presented by Maxi Supermarkets, a member of Delhaize Ahold group, who reached out to their local community in partnership with local Food banks as part of their “We feed the ones in need” project. From UNICEF in Serbia participants learned more about CSR initiatives focused on children.
As part of the CSR Forum, results from the first cycle of CSR indexing in Serbia were presented. This is the first online national platform in the country that and we are delighted to share that in 2016, 20 companies that took part on the index achieved 70% (or above) of the criteria of principles and activities in CSR.
