On Monday 6 September, HRH The Prince of Wales, president of Business in the Community, will commence a country-wide tour of the UK to celebrate sustainable community living as part of his START initiative. The Royal Tour will take HRH via Royal Train, which runs on sustainable bio-fuel, to ten different locations throughout Britain, where individuals, community groups and businesses are working in partnership to help people live more sustainable lives.
The Royal Tour will begin in Glasgow on Monday 6th September, before heading to Edinburgh, Carmarthen, Bristol, Newcastle, Todmorden, Manchester, Nottingham, and Birmingham, before ending up in London on Friday 10th September.
HRH will visit initiatives such as a community garden built on waste ground in Nottingham, a consumer advice centre in Bristol, a sustainable fashion show in Manchester, see examples of where public spaces have been used to grow vegetables, herbs, fruit and flowers for communal use in Todmorden, unveil a beehive as part of a Newcastle-wide beehive scheme, and tour an interactive exhibition which shows smarter working and living examples from local businesses and community organisations in Birmingham.
Business in the Community has been instrumental in bringing together the many partners in each city who will make the visits so inspirational. Find out more about Business in the Community’s involvement in the Royal Tour here.
