It's been a busy few months for the Fuping Development Institute. The following gives a brief overview of Fuping's recent developments.

Huayuan Employee Volunteers Take Migrant Children to Visit National Theatre

On 15th June 2008, employees of Huayuan Real Estate Co. led a group of migrant children to visit the National Grand Theatre in Beijing. This event offered an opportunity for both the employees and the children to share their experiences and maintain long-term contact. The migrant children participating in this event came from the provinces of Inner Mongolia, Henan, Hebei, Shandong, Anhui, Sichuan and Hubei. They currently attend school at Xiaojiahe Migrant Children School.

One child, Cai Huaixin came from Sichuan province, the region that was hit by a magnitude 8.0 earthquake in May 2008. She was worried about relatives back in Sichuan as she could not reach them via telephone. Nevertheless, she enjoyed the trip accompanied by Huayuan employees. Huayuan Co. has been providing services to migrant children since 2007.

CSR Partnership Network – Hewlett-Packard Employee Volunteer Service

On 19th July 2008, CSR Partnership Network Project organized an event where a group of 54 migrant children were led by 70 HP employee volunteers to visit China Science & Technology Museum. Friends and relatives of the volunteers were also encouraged to participate in the event. Extensive analysis, organization and assessment by the CSR Partnership Network ensured the success of the project.

One of the volunteers said,

“The children were more charming and talented than I imagined. This event helped me grasp the notion that altruistic actions will not only benefit the recipients but will also fill myself with joy. I wish the children good health and happiness forever.”

CSR Partnership Network Mid-Autumn Event

Mid-Autumn Day is the time of celebration and family reunion for the Chinese people. Just before the holiday this year, in Beijing, Fuping Institute and CSR Partnership Network project collaborated with Sichuan Mianzhu local government to donate moon-cakes to children in earthquake-affected regions. CSR Partnership Network contacted corporates such as Microsoft, Cargill and LG to provide moon-cakes for 16 kindergartens in disaster areas.

In addition, Microsoft provided moon-cakes for groups of people with visual impairments via their employee volunteering programme. LG donated moon-cakes to Zhenxing Migrant Children School.

CSR Partnership Network – LG Employee Volunteer Service

On 20th September 2008, 11 employee volunteers from LG led 74 migrant children from Jinghua Xiwang School to the “One World, One Dream” exhibition at the World Art Museum in Beijing. This event aims at helping migrant children to better integrate into urban life, which has been one of the principal intensions of CSR Partnership Network.
The employee volunteers participated in a series of activities to stimulate the children’s observation and communication skills.

Newest Additions to Philanthropy Warehouse

From May to August 2008, ABB Ltd. donated 4 batches of second-hand office equipment to the Philanthropy Warehouse, including:
65 second-hand laptop computers, 13 second-hand desktop computers, 1 second-hand fax machine, 5 second-hand LCD monitors. As of 15th August 2008, 13 grass-root CSR organizations (listed below) have received donations from the Philanthropy Warehouse:
Beijing Hongdandan Education & Cultural Exchange Centre, Beijing Huiling Mental Disability Social Service Organization, Beijing Huitianyu Information Consulting Centre, Huaihe Guardian, Beijing Fengtai Lizhi Rehab Centre, Shaanxi Xi’an Beilin Lalashou Special Education Centre, Chabei Information Exchange Centre, Qinhuangdao Innovator Society, Beijing Nongjianv Cultural Development Centre, Hong Kong Shibishou Association, Chinese Communist League Jiangyou Commission, Lanzhou Charity Volunteer Society and Chengdu Irrigation Development Society.
