Tulip Foundation encourages social responsibility in Bulgarian society by enhancing co-operation among civil society, the corporate sector, national and local authorities to improve the quality of life and developmental opportunities for the people of Bulgaria.
One of the recent instruments used by the team of the Tulip Foundation is a marketplace for profit and non-for-profit organisations. The marketplace is a meeting of the local charities and business aimed at finding opportunities for cooperation for the benefit of the local community.

Over the last year Tulip Foundation has initiated and supported marketplaces in 10 cities and municipalities around Bulgaria including Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna, Burgas, Ruse, Stara Zagora etc. Each marketplace has been organised by Tulip foundation in a close cooperation with local NGOs, business organisations, municipalities, media. Various organisations contributed locally – a city gallery offered the space; the opera provided a gong for the opening; local winery donated wine; well known journalists and artists got involved.
More than 130 NGOs as well as some 150 businesses took part signing some 400 agreements for a total of 175 000 Euro. Many more deals and various forms of cooperation been agreed in the days after the marketplace.

The main factors for success include – voluntary and active participation of people from civil organisations and business in the organisation of the event; cooperation with the respective local authorities; preparation work for drafting interesting and proposals for businesses and civil organisations.
Tulip Foundation’s team continues to promote and organise marketplace events in Bulgaria. Another ten events will take place till the end of 2012.
