Liverpool Football Club achieved the national standard of community investment excellence as a result of its extensive work in the Anfield/Breckfield and North Liverpool communities.

Liverpool Football Club’s Commercial Director, Ian Ayre said: “I’m delighted Liverpool Football Club has been recognised for its commitments to the local area with the CommunityMark.

Our community activities enable us to make a positive difference to the lives of others in and around Liverpool and to have our efforts acknowledged in this way is fantastic. It is a great achievement for everyone involved at the club.

How the club makes its mark

Liverpool Football Club’s community investment programmes include the Truth4Youth programme, Tactics 4 Families, Kickz, Reduc @te, Action for Health and Healthy Stadia. The club also works in partnership with Liverpool City Council and community organisations in the extensive regeneration work in Anfield such as the restoration of Stanley Park and the Isla Gladstone Conservatory.

“Liverpool Football Club has established very good working partnerships to help carry out our work in the community,” Club Regeneration Director, Andrea Titterington said. “Our close partnerships with Liverpool City Council and many community organisations within the city help to work towards improvements in education, health, skills training and physical activity. We reach out to all ages and abilities.”

Investing in good times and bad

Liverpool Football Club was one of nine new CommunityMark achievers announced by Business in the Community (BITC) in July this year.

“The CommunityMark achievers for 2009 are leading brands in their respective sectors that have collectively invested over £40 million in their communities,” Catherine Sermon, National Community Impact Director at Business in the Community said. “This reinforces the fact that excellence in community investment not only has a positive and valuable impact on society, but translates to real business benefits.”
