Example is not the main thing in influencing other people; it’s the only thing – Abraham Lincoln

Volunteers are constantly and positively influencing India’s social development. In fact, India has a history replete with stories of dedicated volunteers’ right from their freedom movement to the scenario today where volunteers are powering social and political reformation. However potential volunteers have little inspiration to thrive on.

The iVolunteer Awards, India’s sole platform that celebrates volunteering, is changing this scenario by celebrating, rewarding and promoting volunteering in India. Celebrated annually, the Awards leverage traditional and new age media to promote and recognise the contribution of volunteers and organisations that engage them. The Awards share volunteering stories to help ‘inspire by example’, creating an environment that encourages more people to volunteer.

Highlighting the importance of promoting volunteering, Nandita Das, Actor – Director, Guest of Honour, iVolunteer Awards 2013 Ceremony, said “The iVolunteer Awards are a novel idea to recognise the massive collective influence that volunteering has on our nation and its people, while reminding us that it’s never too late to join in!”

The Awards will be presented in three categories:

  • Volunteer Hero 2014: This Award recognises volunteers who have contributed to and impacted social development through their voluntary work; thus inspiring more people to volunteer.
