Posted: Tuesday 21 February 12, 10.15am GMT

The 6th of February began the International Course on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Sustainable Development 2012 at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), Faculty of Economics. The course is jointly conducted by the NGO CSR360 GPN partner Amartya (Argentina), Kulturstudier institution (Norway), the University of Buenos Aires (Argentina) and the University of Vestfold (Norway) and its objective is to provide a comprehensive view of CSR in the world in a theoretical and practical way.

The course is attended by important teachers and experts from Argentina and internationally recognized academics. The first visitor was the teacher Mallen Baker, author, speaker and consultant on CSR strategies who also is founder of Business Respect and columnist for Ethical Corporation.

The course duration is of three months and takes place in Argentina, twice a year. The idea of the course is to invite important public, private and social sectors’ actors in order to approach the complexity and multidimensional perspective of sustainable development.

The course includes work seminars and classes that approach CSR from various agencies such as the City Government of Buenos Aires, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), NGOs, foundations, companies and organizations of the solidarity economy.

Amartya, thinks that the future is education, which is a genuine tool for transformation. Therefore, from this organization we contribute to the formation of thinkers who come up to the multiplicity of factors involved in a complex and comprehensive society. We work for education that promotes a dialogue for joint construction to help us understand our context and to discover our vocation on the road to a sustainable culture.
