Hungary’s Volunteering Award (2011).

And this year’s Volunteer Award goes to… Winner of the corporate category: Coca – Cola HBC Ltd.

The National Volunteer Centre presented the Volunteer Awards on 30th November at Millenáris Fogadó.

Each year since 2009 the Volunteer Foundation remunerates the most outstanding people, organizations and firms of Hungary who show to the public how important and delighting can volunteering be. The competition was supported this year as well by Budapest Bank, the ’Corporate Volunteer Program of The Year’ award winner of 2009.

Budapest, 6th December 2011. – ‘More and more people join the voluntary assistance nowadays in Hungary, including the fact of the increasing interest about programs of the European Year of Volunteering as well. The awareness about the corporate social responsibility is growing in our country as every year many companies and individuals join groups or organizations to help their environment.’ – says András F. Tóth, Director of the National Volunteer Centre.

The five-membered jury chose the winners out of 60 competitors by such conditions as the results achieved by the aspirant, the success of the program or the volunteering activity.

’The Volunteer Of The Year’ was Balázs Cseh, the leader of the Hungarian Food Bank Association, ‘The Year Volunteer Program’ award for NGOs was given to the KÖZ-Pont Youth Association and the companies on the category was the Coca-Cola HBC Hungary Ltd. A special award – Equality Award – of Budapest Bank for the volunteers who made the best of volunteer work for equality this year was received by Györgyi Lakatos, colleague of Uccu Roma Informal Education Foundation.

About the winners of 2011:

The Volunteer Of The Year: Balázs Cseh, Hungarian Food Bank Association

Balázs Cseh is the founding member of the Hungarian Food Bank Association. The Association – in cooperation with several NGOs and local government – provides food donations and handles the distribution of it, but their most important goal is to find the opportunities to help people in need. Mr. Cseh coordinates the activities of the Association as a volunteer besides his official job and tries to highlight the worsening situation of the poor people and the urgent problem of hunger.

The Volunteer Program Of The Year: KÖZ-Pont Youth Association
The aim of KÖZ-Pont Youth Association is to familiarize youngsters between the age of 10 to 30 with volunteering and involve them to open-minded and creative team working. The regional network and programs of the Association gathers hundreds of volunteers in the Észak-Alföld Region.

The Corporate Volunteer Program Of The Year: Coca-Cola HBC Hungary Ltd.

The Coca-Cola HBC Hungary Ltd. develops its corporate volunteer program for years and worked out a multi-level-based volunteering program. Besides the central actions of the company the employees have the possibility to start their own projects and can tender for separated budget for them. Moreover, the company supports their programs with a widespread creative communication.

Budapest Bank Equality Award: Györgyi Lakatos (Uccu Roma Informal Education Foundation)
Györgyi Lakatos is the volunteer of Uccu Roma Informal Education Fund and plays a special role in the elaboration of the program of the organisation. Inter alia the educational program for high school students via which young people are able to discuss their opinion about roma identity and meet roma people realized by her act. By her work she constantly helps placing the fundamentals of equal opportunities.
