Posted: Friday 28 August 15, 2.08pm GMT

FUNDAHRSE, the Honduran Foundation for Corporate Social Responsibility, and its Unit for SME Development organised a breakfast on the 21st of July 2015, to mark the completion of the “Business ethics in Honduran SMEs” programme.

This programme was delivered in partnership with the Interamerican Development Bank (IDB) and the Multilateral Investment Fund (MIF). The programme aimed to sensitise and train SMEs on issues relating to business ethics, including corporate governance that impacts the areas of; marketing, suppliers, environment, community, and public and internal relations with the government. FUNDAHRSE developed these activities to also engage with the value chains of companies.

The breakfast event aimed to promote the good performance of Honduran SMEs. The event awarded SMEs in San Pedro Sula that implement best practice in their business management. The award was granted to SMEs linked to the value chain of Seaboard Marine and FUNDAHRSE, these included; Gourmet Catering Service, Inversiones RKL, Vidrio Mecánica and Trecomse. The representatives of these SMEs expressed their appreciation for the prestigious award. The event included a presentation by Miriam Tróchez, a Consultant of FUNDAHRSE, who spoke about how the implementation of CSR has transformed SMEs.

“In FUNDAHRSE we believe that the governance of both large companies and SMEs are based on management policies derived from the mission, vision and regulations, which must be developed from the perspective of transparency and accountability from senior management, executives, and staff in the organisation”, J. Robert Leiva , Executive Director of FUNDAHRSE.

The participating SMEs now lead their businesses with transparency and integrity and are conscious of the importance of ethics and transparency in business.
