Guide to industry-wide CSR initiatives

Posted: Tuesday 5 December 17, 10.24am GMT

MEDEF, French business confederation, and Orse (French study center for corporate social responsibility) joined forces to publish in 2014 and 2016 two guides on industry-wide CSR initiatives (in French).

In these 2 publications 19 sectors* contributed and shared the CSR challenges of their industry and the CSR initiatives implemented.

We share with you today the introduction and analysis sections of the 2016 guide translated to English, with the aim of sharing CSR best practices from industry and association-wide initiatives and encouraging the development and wide application of those practices. This extract analyses tendencies in industry-wide CSR initiatives, using concrete examples from French businesses to illustrate them.

For MEDEF and Orse, industry-wide CSR initiatives promote convergence of practices and innovation, while taking a more holistic viewpoint of a sector as a whole and fostering dialogue between stakeholders and joint actions on sustainable development. Professional associations play a key role in providing support for companies, especially by developing resources and tools.
