Future trends in sustainability, at CSR Spain 2017 by Forética

Posted: Wednesday 18 October 17, 3.50pm GMT

Forética, a leading association of companies and professionals in corporate social responsibility (CSR), organized the Annual Reference Event on Sustainability Trends. CSR Spain 2017 closed its fifth edition with a strong message: The future economy will be sustainable, or it will not be.

This concept was further emphasised during Isabel García Tejerina, Spanish Minister of Environment inaugural speech. In the opening ceremony of the event the Spanish Minister of Environment appeared to be well aware of the importance of the National Strategy for Circular Economy and the Law on Climate Change that will be approved in a near future, and recognised them as important drivers for sustainable development.

Under the claim “Creating Change” and with the aim of analysing global trends in CSR, the event had relevant experts from the field, such as L’Oréal Global Sustainability Leader and Alexandra Palt. Alexandra stressed that “one of the greatest challenges the company is facing, is to get 100% of their products to improve their social and environmental profile by 2020. Positively, Alexandra stated that ‘We are on the right track: last year we achieved this goal in 82% of the products we launched’.

Representatives of key sustainability organizations such as CSR Europe, GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) and OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) participated in the fórum, deepening conversations around the international keys that will mark the future of the economy.

The event closed with an interactive session in which CSR strategy was considered in three levels: social, environmental and transparency. Through dialogue of the speakers, the connection between the three areas were analysed which resulted in reinforcing the concept of sustainability acting as a transversal element in companies and organizations on an international scale.
