Below are five items of news from the S2M Foundation. They highlight the activitites the organisation has been involved in over the last year.

On 22 May, at the Residence of H.M. Ambassador in Quito, Ecuador, S2M Foundation, in association with the British Ecuadorian Chambers of Trade and Industry launched the S2M Certification on Sustainability, Measurement of Impact and Mediation with Stakeholders. The Certification has been adapted for Latin American and Developing Countries in general and focuses on the participative assessment of performance in CSR, impact of CSR projects, and mediation procedures for obtaining the social license to operate in rural/local/indigenous communities. The Certification has received international support from UK-Based CSR International, and the Standard has been discussed with Business in the Community, who supports S2M Foundation as an exclusive Ecuadorian member of the CSR360 GPN.

“Financed the Hexagon Dialogue-Hexágono TV Programme” / in Association with Hexagon Group

S2M Foundation has financed the development of Hexagon Group´s initiative named “Diálogo Hexagonal”, that allows members from the private and public sector to meet with other members from NGOs, Media, Communities and International Organizations. The Hexagon Dialogues have covered issues such as social cohesion in Quito and Guayaquil, employment, public procurement, and other initiatives related to the economic base of CSR.

“Organized the Second Give and Gain Day Ecuador” / in Association with BITC-GPN

With the support from Hexagon Group, the participation of students of the Catholic University of Quito, Ecuador and volunteers from at least 10 companies in Quito, Ecuador, S2M Foundation took part in their second “Give and Gain Day”. This year, the goal was to paint the full front of a traditional house for elderly people living in poverty. We had almost 50 participants of all ages who felt that they received more than what had given that morning.

“Fourth General Rumiñahui Index Process – S2M Standard” / in Association with Hexagon Group and the Local Government of Pichincha in Quito, Ecuador (GADPP)

S2M in support to Hexagon Group has run the most important CSR Index in Ecuador for the fourth time: the “Reconocimiento General Rumiñahui” that is convened by the local government of Pichincha (GADPP), the province of Quito, capital of Ecuador. This was, however, the first year in which S2M technically supported the introduction of the S2M Standard (Sustainability, Measurement and Mediation). Previous research during the past 3 years and the successful implementation and benchmarking of various corporations from different sectors, has enabled the Foundation and its partners to successfully launch the S2M Standard and the S2M certification.

“First Annual Charity Ball CICEB – Premio Huella Empresarial” / in Association with “Plataforma de Responsabilidad Social”, GADPP and CICEB.

As part of its promotion of socially responsible activities, S2M has financed the review and evaluation of the NGOs and programmes that apply in order to be able to receive donations from the first annual Charity Ball of the British Chambers in Quito, Ecuador.

“Caminitos de Luz” A Project which focuses on education for children in need,  received the majority of the votes at the Ball, and as a result received an important amount of funds towards financing the schooling of children with high intellectual potential but no opportunities because of the scarcity of the funds from parents to educate them.
