Fuping Development Institute organized a special Christmas & 2010 New Year’s Party on 12th December at Chunlei Migrant Children School, Beijing. It was the first volunteering activity of the ENGAGE Beijing project and saw 35 employee volunteers from Huayuan Property and Allen & Overy LLP support and entertain 85 migrant children.
Before the party, volunteers and children carefully rehearsed their performances of poetry readings, individual and choral singing. During the performances, volunteers encouraged the children to act with confidence.
ENGAGE BEIJING is operated by Fuping Development Institute and is part of the growing International network of 21 projects worldwide which seek to locally tackle the most pressing social issues. ENGAGE BEIJING will develop a series of voluntary activities with the themes of environment protection, science and technology, future career and the city of Beijing. With the help of the corporate volunteers, these migrant children will secure more opportunities to enhance self-confidence, improve communication skills and adapt to their life in Beijing.
