The Regeneration team at Business in the Community has published a Briefing Note on 'Health inequalities and responsible business practice'. The Briefing Note explains the concept of health inequalities, how it links to many of Business in the Community's existing campaigns, and how companies can get engaged.
The team is working with the Department of Health, other partner organisations and across Business in the Community campaigns including International, Marketplace and Business Action on Homelessness to raise awareness of the social and economic causes of health inequalities in the UK.
Specifically, their role is to consider the role of business in addressing health inequalities. To do this they are addressing issues surrounding vulnerable customers, the social impact of capital investment, and the employability of disadvantaged groups.
