A new KMPG Make a Difference Day – a new record

Posted: Monday 10 November 08, 11.21am GMT

This year’s Make A Difference Day (MaDD) in Germany saw more than 850 people from 20 offices donating around 6,800 hours of their time to over 80 social and environmental projects. For the fourth time since 2005 employees of KPMG, from the intern to the member of the board, have thereby made a difference by taking part in projects ranging from holding 140 job interview trainings to picking five tons of apples and shifting 27 tons of sand.

KPMG volunteers in Hanover evaluated application papers and simulated job interviews before concluding the training with specific and action-oriented feedback. The volunteers gave hints on potential areas of improvement and acted in interview role-playing situations and as moderators in the feedback rounds.

Near Frankfurt am Main, volunteers helped to gather apples together and bring them to the cider press. So they supported the MainAeppelHaus association which takes care for the “Streuobstwiesen” (German term for a traditional type of extensive grassland-orchard management system, consisting of a meadow with scattered fruit trees).

KPMG people in Essen worked together with children and the staff from the Tabaluga kindergarten in Essen to refurbish their outside area. The team put in place 27 tons of sand for the sandpit and also created beds for flowers and herbs.

KPMG is a member of the UPJ Corporate Responsibility business network. All of the MaDD were realized in cooperation with UPJ and local intermediary organisations.
