36% of Step UP! participants in Hong Kong have already secured employment

Posted: Wednesday 23 July 14, 7.10am GMT

Step UP! was created by Community Business to invite the business sector to play an active role in alleviating poverty in Hong Kong. Through Step UP!, businesses will enable and empower disadvantaged unemployed young adults to discover their strengths and gain the confidence, skills, and opportunities required to secure sustained employment and move up the socio-economic ladder.

The pilot phase was launched in February 2014, with 20 young adults completing the programme. At least 36% have secured full-time employment after their participation and 80% strongly believe Step UP! has had positive long-term impact on their lives.

The full programme will launch coming September and we aim to recruit 80 young adults to participate. We are currently seeking corporate sponsorship and employee volunteers to become mentors and job skills trainers.
