Countries are becoming more interconnected and local issues are transcending country borders. Whilst these developments have led to rapid growth and poverty reduction in a number of developing countries, they have also generated significant international opposition and a number of issues ranging from inequality to environmental problems.
Companies are investing globally and simply cannot afford to ignore the footprint they are leaving. One of the crucial aspects of companies operating internationally is to figure out a way to source in a responsible way and take full understanding of their supply chain.
As a consequence, we wanted to start the first Pilot of our Magazine by looking at the bigger picture to get a better understanding of the issues companies are facing and their approach towards sourcing and supply chain issues.
The chosen topic also fits with a global event we are organising in India focussing on responsible sourcing and ethical supply chain management. The visit will take place between 26 -28 November in Chennai targeted at senior business leaders from both India and the UK and is organised with the help of a number of CSR360 GPN partners, with the main partner being Business Community Foundation based in Delhi. For further information, please go to our events section.
The Magazine issue exists of four pieces of writing. The first is an article on responsible supply chain management from Mallen Baker, Founding Director, Business Respect. The second is an article from our Indian Partner ‘Partners in Change’ covering ethical supply chain issues in the Indian Garment Industry, The third piece is a company interview with Marshalls on their sourcing approach, followed by David Halley’s monthly blog ‘September Reflections’.
I hope that you are enjoying this section of the website and I am looking forward to reading your comments and ideas.
Best Regards,
Flavia Kraus,
