Verity Lawson
Sustainability Reporting Manager
British American Tobacco
Verity Lawson joined British American Tobacco in early 2007 and in her present role, as Sustainability Reporting Manager, she is primarily responsible for all aspects of the planning, production and publication of the annual p.l.c. Sustainability Report. This includes data collection and analysis, content drafting, managing the external assurance process and organising stakeholder dialogues. In addition, she works with different areas of the business, at central, regional and local level, to drive the sustainability agenda. Verity has also spoken at various seminars, events and academic courses on BAT’s approach to CSR and sustainability.
Prior to joining the CSR team, Verity managed the development and launch of BAT’s specialist website www.bat-science.com. This project was integral part of their work to actively seek more open and transparent engagement with the external scientific community.
Verity’s background is in project management and she is an accredited PRINCE2 practitioner. Prior to joining BAT, she worked for HM Revenue & Customs managing a number of high-profile projects throughout various departments. These ranged from parliamentary investigations; procedural and software analysis; creation and implementation of new processes; and running training programmes and workshops.
