Maia is a journalist and graduate in Communications at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, and a CSR consultant trained by Tellus Institute, USA. Currently she is partner and Executive Director with SustentaRSE.

She has a working experience of ten years in the field of CSR, being involved in nearly all aspects of CSR management as well as consultancy services to the corporate sector. This has included the design of strategies and policies, the implementation of programs and specific initiatives, multi-stakeholder engagement and communications, CSR reporting and crisis management. Since the end of 2005 she has been a permanent consultant to Empresa Nacional del Petróleo (ENAP) in Chile and its operating companies SIPEC in Ecuador and Sipetrol in Argentina.

Maia was Project Manager and Executive Director for Forum EMPRESA (2003 - 2004), an hemispheric alliance of CSR business organizations in the region, in which she participated in the design and implementation of the project “Promoting CSR in the Americas”, carried out in Chile, Brazil, El Salvador and Peru with the support of the MIF/IADB, the Organization for American States, OAS, and CIDA.

Prior to joining EMPRESA, she was Corporate Communications Manager with BellSouth and director with BellSouth Foundation in Chile. She led the development of the company’s CSR strategy, the social regional program BellSouth Proniño and the corporate volunteer program. She also participated in the establishing of Fundación Acción RSE, being a member of the board, and of the Social Committee at the American Chamber of Commerce in Chile, were she served as Vice President.

Maia is also CSR professor at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and the Center for Executive Training at Universidad del Desarrollo, CSR adviser to the Consejo Nacional de Desarrollo Sustentable de Chile, associate to Fundación Avina and member of the United Nations Expert Group for Communications on Progress (COP).
