João has been with Cambridge University Press for 9 years and in publishing for 28 years (Longman/Pearson/Harcourt). He holds a degree in Business Administration with a Post Graduate in Marketing (both in Brazil).
He joined the Press in 2001, when CUP Brazil was a representative office with 7 employees. He was responsible for developing the business and transforming the company in Brazil into a full trading branch, bringing the turnover from roughly £ 1 million in 2002 to a budgeted £ 7 million in 2010.
They now have 50 people working for the branch, with representatives in major cities and regions in Brazil.
The branch has an extensive social responsibility program supporting approximately 54 projects to help underprivileged students to learn English.
