CSR360 GPN has reached its current number of over 115 partner organisations from its beginnings 14 years ago. The network which focuses on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has a presence in all the continents of the world and encompasses 60 countries in total.
Every quarter we publish a set of articles relating to a particular topic of corporate social responsibility.
Have you ever thought how different the world would be if poverty and stark inequalities did not exist? What is the role of business in developing countries? Can they be a positive force to improve the economic prosperity of a country by creating jobs, and developing products and services that meet the needs of the poor?
In recent years there has been some debate about this issue and there is an emerging theory that suggests that the bottom of the pyramid (BOP) represent a ‘latent’ market. There are both positive and negative perceptions on the role of business in addressing the bottom of the pyramid consumers as a new market opportunity. Can this be a win-win for business and the poor? Or it is just a way of justifying the spread of capitalism across developing countries?

Established as a not-for-profit organisation in 1995, Partners in Change has been pioneering the understanding and practice of corporate responsibility (CR) issues in India, whilst simultaneously promoting cross-sector partnerships as a tool to overcome complex development challenges. Through all its work PiC strives to place, as its central focus, the poor, marginalized or vulnerable communities and groups impacted by business.
PiC offers a wide range of CR-related services to businesses and civil society organisations operating in India, and works in close association with international networks and alliances. We participate with Government in the development of National and International CSR Standards. We are committed to play a role in furthering CSR agenda in South Asia, and within Business Schools. Being a member of the Credibility Alliance, we support and promote the principles of good governance and public disclosure.
